LAFAYETTE - The 19th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team began Year No. 5 of the Gerry Glasco era capturing a 2-0, 23-0 (5 inn.) doubleheader sweep of UAB on Friday, Feb. 11 in the 36th Annual Louisiana Classics at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.
Louisiana's pitching staff scattered five hits over 12 innings in notching back-to-back shutouts of the visiting Blazers. After a pitcher's duel to start the day, the offense showed off its power-hitting potential by generating nine extra base hits - which included five home runs - in the nightcap.
Kandra Lamb and Meghan Schorman combined for a four-hit shutout in Game 1 and Kramer Eschete provided all the offense necessary with a two-run double in the second inning.
