SAN MARCOS, Texas — Kyle Clement crushed a three-run home run over the fence in right field to break a tie game in the eighth inning against Arkansas State, as top-seeded Louisiana-Lafayette advanced in the Sun Belt Conference tournament with a 7-4 win.
Eric Carter (5-2) struck out nine batters in 3.2 brilliant relief innings to get the well-deserved win for the Cajuns (38-19). The Cajuns will play tournament host Texas State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Before Clement came to the plate, the Cajuns had stranded eight runners in their previous four innings, including six in scoring position.
