LAFAYETTE – Director of Athletics Scott Farmer announced on Thursday that the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team will open the 2017 season against in-state opponent Southeastern Louisiana at Cajun Field.
The game between Louisiana and SLU, a Division I-FCS member of the Southland Conference, is scheduled for Sept. 2, 2017. The addition of SLU to the 2017 schedule will mark the sixth consecutive year the Ragin' Cajuns will host an in-state opponent in a non-conference game, and adds to a schedule that includes games at Tulsa (Sept. 9) and Texas A&M (Sept. 16).
"The ability to schedule in-state opponents for non-conference games at Cajun Field is something that has been key for us for the past few years as it helps create a great college football atmosphere for both fan bases," Farmer said.
