LAFAYETTE – Jeremy McNichols rushed for a pair of first-half touchdowns and added a 48-yard scoring pass in the second quarter as Boise State built a 35-3 lead at halftime and defeated the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 45-10, in the season-opener for both teams on Saturday at Cajun Field.
Brett Rypien completed 22 of 33 passes for 347 yards and a pair of TD passes as Boise State (1-0) scored touchdowns on four of its first five possessions while gaining 387 of its 584 yards of total offense in the first half.
With 17 players seeing their first action in a Ragin' Cajuns uniform, Louisiana (0-1) finished with 267 yards of total offense with transfer quarterback Anthony Jennings completing 21 of 33 passes for 186 yards and a TD pass.
