Cajuns’ Mark Hudspeth says he’ll be ‘very diligent’ in his search for a new offensive coordinator

LAFAYETTE — For the first time since he was hired in December 2010, Louisiana-Lafayette football coach Mark Hudspeth is looking for an offensive coordinator.

Cajuns offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jay Johnson officially accepted the same job at Minnesota on Tuesday, leaving Hudspeth looking to fill the ranks.

And with national signing day looming in a little more than a month, he’s hoping his search comes to a speedy conclusion — just not at the expense of making an educated decision.

“I’m going to be very diligent in my approach to who I’m going to look at for the position and if I feel like he’s going to fit what we have with offensive personnel coming back,” Hudspeth said Tuesday.
