Christian Hayes made the most of his chances during Saturday’s Louisiana-Lafayette spring game.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound freshman led all wide receivers with a game-high 79 yards on four receptions, including the longest catch of the game: a 30-yarder from Gunner Hudspeth. Not bad for a player who walked on to the team only a few months ago after starring at West Monroe High.
“We felt that he had the talent all along,” coach Mark Hudspeth said. “He just needs a year to work on things. If he can keep working at it, he can help us down the road.
