LAFAYETTE — The common thought in 2016 is that South Alabama — the defending Sun Belt Conference softball tournament champion — has fallen off a bit.
Don’t tell that to Louisiana-Lafayette coach Michael Lotief, who said he wants it known that he does not share that thought.
“That didn’t come out of my mouth,” Lotief said. “We watched them play earlier this season, and it looked like the same brand of softball. The kid that shut us out, she’s still their No. 1 with another year’s experience. She won’t be walking in here intimidated. Whoever is saying that ain’t watching what’s going on.
