Wooten lauds increase in NFL minority coaches

NFL teams have hired more first-time minority head coaches in the past five days than they had hired in the previous five years.

It may or may not signify a trend, but at the very least, there is movement where progress had slowed.

Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph and San Diego Chargers coach Anthony Lynn joined a short list when accepting top coaching jobs this week. Before their hiring, the New York Jets' Todd Bowles had been the only first-time minority head-coaching hire in 22 chances during the five hiring cycles from 2012-16, as an ESPN.
