It was announced on Monday that the Houston Texans would be parting ways with linebacker Whitney Mercilus, and on Tuesday that transaction became official. Mercilus wants to play for a Super Bowl contender and the release was a “mutual thing” that allows the veteran to get away from the worst roster in the NFL for a chance to join one of the better teams of 2021.
Could the Los Angeles Rams be that team?
Mercilus spoke of his desire to play for a Super Bowl contender following the release:
“For me as far as the direction I want to go, it’s definitely being with a team that has a chance to make it to the playoffs and has a chance to make it to the Super Bowl and to be with a contender, honestly.
