Reports emerged Sunday morning that the Los Angeles Rams granted middle linebacker and defensive signal caller Ernest Jones permission to seek a trade after talks on a contract extension stalled ahead of the 2024 season. Jones has been a stalwart on LA’s defense since the team selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The conclusion of the preseason is supposed to bring clarity and answers as teams cutdown to their initial 53-man rosters and turn towards Week 1 of the regular season; however, in a strange turn of events the Rams may be without a leader of their defense when they take the field against the Detroit Lions when they kickoff the season on Sunday Night Football.
