Now, we know why Sean McVay chose John Wolford to start Saturday’s playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Jared Goff just wasn’t healthy enough to play effectively after having thumb surgery less than two weeks ago. Yet, Goff was forced into the game after his backup, Wolford, left the game with a neck injury in the first quarter after getting crushed by Seattle safety Jamal Adams with a helmet hit. Wolford had to get checked at a hospital, but he returned to the stadium.
While Goff was healthy enough to be active, McVay and the coaching staff decided earlier in the week that Wolford should start.
