Before the 2015 season began, the NFL moved the line of scrimmage back 13 yards for extra-point kicking attempts. Instead of being a 20-yard kick, the point after touchdown became the equivalent of a 33-yard field-goal try.
The idea was to make the extra point a less predictable play. Mission accomplished in Week 11 of 2016, with a total of 12 extra points missed in 12 games played Sunday.
Mike Nugent of Cincinnati and Robbie Gould of the New York Giants missed two each. The rest of the gang that couldn’t shoot straight, with one miss: Chicago’s Connor Barth, Minnesota’s Kai Forbath, Jacksonville’s Jason Myers, Cleveland’s Cody Parkey, New England’s Stephen Gostkowski, and Washington’s Dustin Hopkins.
