For the past several seasons, Nicholas Morrow was by far the best player on the Greenville (Ill.) College football team.
“He was an All-American,” coach Robbie Schomaker said. “He was defensive player of the year in the conference. We designed our defense around him. He was smart. He worked hard.”
This past season, scouts started showing up at Greenville, an NCAA Division III school (enrollment 1,100) about 45 miles northeast of St. Louis.

Before the 2016 season ended, scouts from more than 20 teams had found their way.
“It’s Greenville, so not many people come out and watch us practice,” Morrow said.
