As it turns out, the man who told John Fassel he was to become the Los Angeles Rams’ interim head coach was Jeff Fisher himself, the man Fassel was to replace.
Furthermore, Fassel never technically accepted the job.

So, in short, Fisher had relayed the news to Fassel about his temporary promotion, and not Rams COO Kevin Demoff.
