When it boils down to basics, life is country music.
So naturally, I thought of Merle Haggard when fans of the soon-departing Rams began to wonder, “What am I gonna do with the rest of my life.”
For some, this sports divorce was a kick in the gut: Dot your i’s, cross your t’s, and the team still heads out. Kind of like losing weight, dressing nice and sharing your feelings, and she leaves anyway. Why did we bother, we ask.
We bother because that’s who St. Louisans are. In spite of failure or disappointment, we believe if we work hard and respect our neighbors, everything will be fine in the long run.
