The LA Rams entered the 2020 NFL Draft without a first-round draft pick. The value of the Rams’ first-round pick had already been negotiated and was on the roster as the player by the name of their All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Wide receiver Denzel Mims was projected as a highly talented receiver for the same draft, a draft filled with some of the best and deepest wide receivers ever to come out in one draft class. So it seemed with near certainty that the LA Rams would not have an opportunity to draft Mims, despite trading away a valuable veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
