KANSAS CITY • Despite the gaudy 12-4 regular-season record and the AFC West title, nothing has come easy for the Kansas City Chiefs this season.
They had to overcome a 21-point deficit to beat San Diego in their opener. Time after time they defied logic with comeback wins against Carolina, Denver in overtime, and Atlanta.
And so here they were again Sunday night. They were trailing 18-16, out of timeouts at the 2-minute warning and trying to get the ball back from Pittsburgh in an AFC divisional playoff game.
On a third-and-3 play from the Pittsburgh 12, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger rolled right, bought time and waited for Antonio Brown to scoot all the way across the field for a 7-yard catch and wrap up the game.
