ST. LOUIS • The city’s treasurer doesn’t like the proposal to build a $1 billion football stadium on the riverfront, either.
Treasurer Tishaura Jones added her voice on Tuesday to the growing band of stadium opponents. Several aldermen, state legislators and city Comptroller Darlene Green have come out against the public expense in recent months.
Gov. Jay Nixon’s stadium task force has pitched a plan to city aldermen, and the National Football League, to build a new stadium along the Mississippi River, and, it hopes, keep the St. Louis Rams from moving to Los Angeles.
