Slay, Reed approve stadium financing; Green opposes

ST. LOUIS • Another city government body has cast another essential vote on the proposed riverfront stadium.

St. Louis’ three-person Board of Estimate & Apportionment voted 2-1 today to approve the city’s portion of the facility financing package.

Mayor Francis Slay and Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed passed the plan. Comptroller Darlene Green voted against it.

It is the second-to-last vote required for full city approval. The Board of Aldermen is scheduled to vote on final passage of the required legislation— the aldermen’s fifth and last step — on Friday.

The plan was expected to pass the Estimate & Apportionment board today.
