Connor Williams, the starting center for the Seattle Seahawks, will abruptly retire from the NFL midseason at age 27. Head coach Mike MacDonald confirmed the retirement while meeting with reporters on Friday.

Williams has struggled this year for Seattle. In the recent matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, he was single-handedly responsible for at least two poor shotgun snaps that resulted in significant losses. This was a game where the Seahawks’ offensive line was already struggling against a fierce Los Angeles pass rush, and Williams made life even more difficult for Geno Smith and the offense.
