Early Monday morning, it was reported by Ian Rapoport and other NFL insiders that the tag deadline on Tuesday is expected to be postponed if the official salary cap number isn’t finalized in time.
Last year’s deadline was also postponed just one minute prior to the opening of the legal tampering period, so it certainly wouldn’t be the first time teams have had to improvise with new schedule changes.
A storyline to follow going forward: If the official salary cap number doesn’t come today and soon, NFL will have to move back the deadline to franchise tag players from Tuesday.
