After the Rams’ convincing win over the Patriots this past Thursday, they’ve moved up one spot in ESPN’s latest edition of their weekly power rankings to No. 6. They are currently one spot ahead of the 9-4 Seahawks and one slot behind the 10-3 Saints.
“Sean McVay took a risk when he hired unknown and unproven defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who served three previous seasons in the NFL as an outside linebackers coach,” says Rams beat writer Lindsey Thiry. “McVay’s bet paid off, as Staley took over a good defense that included Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey, maintained a base 3-4 scheme and added several wrinkles to make it great.
