Cam Akers has always donned the number three. From the first days of him running around on the gridiron to his final days in Tallahassee, Akers could be recognized by that lone digit.
After spending his rookie season with an additional “two” on his jersey — where he rushed for 625 yards and three total touchdowns — Akers is officially taking advantage of the the recent expansion of player-specific jersey numbers and transitioning back to his old number three, according to the team.
He joins a host of other players from around the league who are also changing their numbers to a single-digit, including Patrick Peterson (7), Kenneth Murray Jr.
