Random Ramsdom: 2021 salary cap not likely to exceed $183 million

According to a report by NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the NFL announced that each club will have a 2021 salary cap of $182.5 million to work with in this upcoming season. That is a fairly steep decline from the $198.2 million cap that was used in 2020.

Pelissero’s report confirms the earlier report by Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio that the 2021 cap was not expected to exceed $183 million

The NFL just informed teams the 2021 salary cap will be $182.5 million per club, source said.

In a letter from NFLPA president DeMaurice Smith to the Player’s Union earlier this week, Smith reasserted that with the expected bump in television revenue, and the added expectation of fans back in the stadium, the future salary will see a stark bounce back in the coming years.
