The yards weren't coming easy, but after a season-long 18-yard run out of the Wildcat formation, running back Todd Gurley had 36 yards on nine carries. There were 4 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter at the time.
Strangely, Gurley got only three handoffs the rest of the way in Sunday's 13-10 loss to Carolina in Los Angeles. It was symptomatic of what's happened the past two games. Struggling or not, Gurley hands-down is the Rams' best offensive player.
But the NFL's offensive rookie of the year in 2015 got only 15 carries in the Rams' 17-10 loss to the New York Giants in Week 7.
