The L.A. Rams are 3-4, one win over the Seahawks away from being .500 and hunting down another division title. However, they are also one loss away from being 3-5 and that would be their fifth loss against an NFC team if they lose in Seattle.
So whether or not the Rams buy or sell at the deadline (most likely they will do nothing significant anyway) could depend on how Week 9 goes against the Seahawks. But you should already have an idea of whether you believe the Rams are going to be good enough to make a playoff run or if it is better to think of the future.
