With strong safety T.J. McDonald and right tackle Rob Havenstein sidelined, the Rams turned to a pair of young players to fill in against the Vikings in Minnesota. And both played well.
“It was really close ... to handing out a couple of game balls after a win to (guard) Andrew Donnal and (safety) Maurice Alexander because I thought for their first starts they played pretty well,’’ Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Monday from Rams Park. “But we don’t give game balls out after losses.’’
The 21-18 loss in overtime definitely took away from the experience for Donnal and Alexander.
