While there is a lot of breaking news in the NFL this week, most teams aren’t releasing cheap, cost-controlled young players who would make sense to keep under most circumstances. Apparently Tre’Vius Tomlinson isn’t like most situations though because the L.A. Rams released the cornerback on Wednesday, just two years after they drafted him.
Though Tomlinson was only a sixth round pick, the connection to uncle LaDainian and the idea that he could be a day three steal brought a lot of attention his way. Unfortunately, that attention didn’t materialize into production on the field and Tomlinson has become expendable early in his career.
