Rams hire 30-year-old Sean McVay as head coach

At the beginning of his head-coaching search, Los Angeles Rams executive Kevin Demoff said the team wouldn't necessarily hire an offensive-oriented coach.

In the end, that's exactly what the Rams did, announcing Thursday that they had hired Washington offensive coordinator Sean McVay as their new head coach, replacing the fired Jeff Fisher.

McVay, 30, celebrates his 31st birthday on Jan. 24. Not only does he become the youngest head coach in the National Football League, he's the youngest NFL head coach since at least the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
