On the first play of the second quarter, former Parkway West High and Mizzou standout Blaine Gabbert hooked up with veteran wideout Anquan Boldin on a 33-yard scoring pass that put the 49ers on top 7-3. On the play, which capped a seven-play, 70-yard drive, the powerful Boldin gained control of the pass as cornerback Janoris Jenkins appeared to lose his footing. That allowed to cruise into the end zone with 14:52 to play in the opening half.
Boldin, who missed the first Rams-49ers game with a hamstring injury, became just the 13th player in NFL history to reach 1,000 catches a week earlier in a loss to the Lions in Detroit.
