The Rams got on the board in the first quarter on their second possession with a quick four-play drive. Wide receiver Tavon Austin got it started with a seven-yard jet sweep that ended up going 15 more yards with a facemask penalty. Then rookie quarterback Jared Goff completed his first NFL pass to fellow rookie, tight end Tyler Higbee, and followed that with a 19-yard pass to wideout Kenny Britt.
From there, running back Todd Gurley did the rest. The 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year ripped off his longest run of the season — a 24-yard touchdown to give the Rams a 7-0 lead.
