Rams coach Jeff Fisher on Vin Scully: 'He's a legend'

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher grew up in Woodland Hills, California, in the 1970s, in the days of Dodgers greats such as Steve Garvey, Ron Cey and Davey Lopes. And on the broadcast then -- and now, and pretty much throughout every moment of the Dodgers' Southern California history -- was Vin Scully. Fisher recalled hot summer nights in the San Fernando Valley, falling asleep while listening to Scully on his portable, wooden AM radio.

"It just had a volume," Fisher said, "and you had to move the dial."

Scully is retiring at the end of this week, ending a 67-year career with the Dodgers that made him one of the most indelible, revered and beloved personalities in the game's history.
