The Los Angeles Rams were expecting big things out of cornerback Cobie Durant in 2023. Despite playing in just over 280 snaps as a rookie, Durant was one of the more impressive first-year cornerbacks, playing statistically better in some categories than Tariq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks.
Then came the purge on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was traded away and Leonard Floyd was released. Cornerback Troy Hill wasn’t brought back while linebacker Bobby Wagner was also let go.
All of a sudden, Durant became one of the more important players in the secondary.
