The Los Angeles Rams announced today that punter Johnny Hekker has been named the team’s 2016 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for civic leadership in his communities. Representing the best of the NFL’s commitment to philanthropy and community impact, the five-year veteran is now eligible to win the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide.
"I think winning the award would mean a lot," Hekker said. "We have so much of a platform to impact those around us. It shows other people that there is more to the NFL than [what happens] on Sunday.
