Surrounded by a strong defense, a talented receiving corps, and the winning environment that is Denver Broncos football, quarterback Mark Sanchez appeared to be in a good spot when he was traded there in March.
Peyton Manning had retired, Brock Osweiler had departed for Houston, and Sanchez had an opportunity to revive his career. But two lost fumbles against San Francisco in Denver’s second preseason game spelled the beginning of the end for Sanchez in his depth-chart battle with untested Trevor Siemian and rookie first-rounder Paxton Lynch.
Last week, the Broncos named Siemian their opening-day starter, and on Saturday they released Sanchez.
