In the NFL, there’s a certain status that comes form a running back gaining 1,000 yards rushing in a season. The mark has become a standard for how good a back’s year has been, and to a certain extent has become a lens through which one may view a player’s potential.
On “The Jeff Fisher Show” this week, the Rams’ head coach expressed a desire to see Gurley reach that mark in 2015. He expanded on it after practice on Wednesday.
“It came up in a conversation and it makes sense,” Fisher said. “If he’s at 835 and we’ve got four games left, it makes sense that he starts a roll for his career with 1,000-yard seasons.
