The moaning has begun. The NFL is just 25 games into its preseason schedule, and already coaches are complaining publicly about officiating mistakes.
Most notable was Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher, who contended that officials missed four penalties on a kickoff return against his team in Week 1. A call on any of them would have wiped out a 101-yard scoring return.
The NFL, believe it or not, is listening. For a second consecutive summer, the league is experimenting by adding an extra official to all crews in Week 2 of the preseason.
