HOUSTON • Those five New England Super Bowl victories have come with only 19 points to spare.
It began, if course, with Adam Vinatieri’s 48-yard field goal as time expired in Super Bowl XXXVI, a 20-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams.
Two years later it was a case of having the same dream twice. Vinatieri, from 41 yards with four seconds left, beat Carolina 32-29.
A year after that, Rodney Harrison’s interception with 9 seconds remaining sealed a 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX to conclude the 2004 season.
