The Seahawks have led the league in scoring defense for four years in a row — a remarkable feat in any era, but especially in this period of record-setting offenses. At 15.3 points per game in 2012, 14.4 in 2013, 15.9 in 2014, and 17.3 in 2015, the numbers don’t lie. Seattle’s system works, and works well.
“They fill, they don’t miss tackles, they put pressure on the passer, and they give up very few explosive plays, and that’s just how they’ve always been,” Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said.
That system, of course, is based around Cover 3, which splits the field into thirds for the secondary to cover.
