ST. CHARLES • New York Jets defensive lineman and former St. Louis prep football star Sheldon Richardson pleaded not guilty on Monday to resisting arrest and other traffic charges in connection with an incident in July.
A trial has been set for Oct. 5. Resisting arrest is a misdemeanor which carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Richardson did not personally appear at the arraignment held before Associate Circuit Judge Norman C. Steimel III in St. Charles County Circuit Court. He was represented Monday by Matthew D. Fry, who is with the same law firm as noted defense lawyer Scott Rosenblum, who had previously said Richardson would plead not guilty.
