New York (AFP) - St. Louis Rams backup running back Trey Watts, the son of a former US lawmaker, has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, the league announced Wednesday.
In May, the NFL issued Watts a four-game suspension for his first violation of the same rule and he missed the first four games of this season.
"I made a mistake and now I have to deal with it," Watts said in August. "I'm disappointed in myself because I feel like I let people down. I let my teammates down and I let my family down.
