PHOENIX • Mere days before an expected relocation vote by NFL owners, the city of Oakland received its “Dear John” letter from league Commissioner Roger Goodell.
That should sound familiar to St. Louisans, because 14 months earlier basically the same thing happened to them.
In the case of Oakland, Mayor Libby Schaaf got the letter directly from Goodell on Friday, in response to correspondence she had sent his way earlier regarding a last-ditch stadium plan to keep the Raiders.
According to multiple reports, Goodell said the Oakland proposal was not “clear and specific (or) actionable in a reasonable time frame.
