More Aussie punters, kickers finding their way to NFL

Lachlan Edwards was tossing a football around — an American football — with a friend a few years back at Ballarat University in Victoria. That’s Victoria, Australia.

Edwards decided to kick the football, just for the heck of it, and launched a beautiful spiral.

“One of my professors from university at the time was there — he’s from Connecticut originally,” Edwards said. “He asked me if I had played (American football).”

Nope.

Edwards’ game was Australian Rules football, but in November 2012 he was in the offseason for that sport. And bored that day. Edwards didn’t even know his friend had an American football, but there it was that day.
