“I could feel the excitement as soon as I walked into the room,” McLeod said. “This event means a lot to them, but I think it means even more to me. I’m able to take time out of my day and hang with these kids, and really appreciate things we may take for granted that these kids have to deal with on a daily basis.”
But before he and the children could go play games, he needed to complete his “Shriners Initiation.” Madelyn, one of Shriners patients, taught McLeod how to tie his shoes with just one hand.
