At the start of training camp last summer, former head coach Jeff Fisher believed Case Keenum was the answer at quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams over Jared Goff due to his veteran experience. Clearly, that was far from the case after Keenum was eventually benched for Goff following an embarrassing Week 10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in which he only completed 5 of 9 passes for 32 yards.
Keenum certainly showed potential at times in 2016, but there’s a reason why the veteran has struggled to land a consistent job in the NFL throughout his five-year career, even if the Rams failed to provide him with the necessary weapons on offense to succeed.
