The Los Angeles Rams have went from very little monies to vast amounts of cap space and back to minimal wiggle room under the salary cap over the course of the past two months. On Thursday, they made a move to free up a bit more space for this season.
Source: the Rams converted $1.21M of All-Pro P Johnny Hekker's 2018 base salary into a signing bonus, creating $968,000 in cap space. Some wiggle room.

The wiggle room that Yates mentions will likely be used as somewhat of a buffer as the Rams continue to try to make room for what is undoubtedly going to be a record setting contract in the near future for All-World DT Aaron Donald.
