Lightning strikes Panthers' stadium during storm (Shutdown Corner)

A Monday afternoon storm in Charlotte brought down multiple bolts of lightning on the Panthers’ home, Bank of America Stadium, marking the hardest hits Carolina had taken since Von Miller laid the lumber to them in the Super Bowl. The photo above captures a bolt in mid-strike; a Charlotte weatherman has some dramatic video of the multiple strikes.

Naturally, you can come up with any number of explanations as to why lightning rained down on the home of the Panthers: Cam Newton powering up, Luke Kuechly banging pads, et cetera.
