Jets' Richardson will plead not guilty to O'Fallon, Mo., charges, lawyer says

O'FALLON, Mo. • New York Jets star Sheldon Richardson will plead not guilty to charges stemming from a high-speed, late-night road race last month, his attorney said Wednesday.

Scott Rosenblum, a prominent area defense attorney, didn't elaborate. He said he has yet to receive the police reports involved. "We have to sort through the allegations," he said.

Richardson, 24, a St. Louis native and former University of Missouri player, faces charges of resisting arrest and various traffic violations in connection with the July 14 incident.

According to court records, Richardson, of O'Fallon, was racing another car on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) on July 14 and was clocked by police as driving up to 143 mph in his 2014 Bentley Silver Spur.
