Jets player Sheldon Richardson pleads guilty in high-speed chase, gets no jail time

ST. CHARLES COUNTY • New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson on Tuesday was fined $1,050 but escaped jail time for leading police on a high-speed, late-night road race on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) last July.

Associate Circuit Judge Norman Steimel issued the sentence as part of a plea agreement negotiated by prosecutors and Richardson's attorney, Scott Rosenblum.

Richardson, 25, a St. Louis native and former University of Missouri star, pleaded guilty to resisting arrest, speeding and running a red light. In addition to the fine, Richardson was sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
