Joe Buck officially is on the move.
ESPN announced Wednesday morning that it has reached a deal to bring Buck and Troy Aikman over from Fox to call "Monday Night Football," as well as having other assignments.
To do so, ESPN not only had to deal with the broadcasters but also with Fox Sports executives in order to let Buck, its most high-profile employee for the last two decades, out of the final year of his contract in which he had been its lead NFL and MLB play-by-play announcer. Buck and Aikman have worked together as Fox's lead NFL team for 20 seasons, and Buck has been the network's top baseball voice since 1996.
